Dating Safety
While dating is reasonably safe, it is always extremely important to follow a few rules in order to protect yourself and your privacy.
Here are some tips on dating safety.
Dating can be a lot of fun. Many people love to meet new people and find that special person they may fall in love with. However, there have been a few incidents around the country that have made it evident that people need to be cautious when dating.
Here are some common sense tips when meeting someone new.
The most basic tip is just common sense. If you don’t feel comfortable then don’t go out on a date with him or her. Many people feel guilty or feel sympathy and decide to go on the date against their better judgement. The truth of the matter is, don’t worry about the other person, consider your instincts first.
If you meet someone online or over the phone, try not to give away too much personal information. You don’t need to tell anyone where you live, exactly where you work or any other personal information. While most people respect your privacy, this is the best way to limit the chances of being stalked or harassed.
Meet in a public place for your first date. You might decide to meet for drinks or dinner. Wait to go hiking or other activities that require you and your date to be alone in a remote place until you get to know that person better.
Lastly, don’t drink much alcohol on your first date. While one or two drinks might be okay, don’t overdo. If you have had too much to drink, you will have poor judgment and might do something that you will later regret. |
